One of my favourite things
An excuse to get out into the woods,
waking memories from my childhood,
scent of spring in the air,
and the play of shade and light on the ground,
my image of Finnishness in tall old pine trees on the shore,
shared experience with people of different generations,
feeling of connectedness to my Finnish ancestors who made their journeys this way,
a possibility to hear the first birds that have already returned
Among other things, that's what skiing is for me. Celebrated my winter holiday by making a skiing trip of 25 km in Jyväskylä with a good friend I was visiting.

Thanks for sharing more pics with us from the snowy woods. Have you ever read Robert Frost's famous poem "Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening"? It is really deep, and I think the imagery is beautiful.

I am really curious, and I love languages. What are some introductory words in Finnish?

Hi Brian!
Thanks for your comment! No, I haven't read that poem, need to find it sometime.
In Finnish you can say Hi= Hei(pronounce like English word hay)or Moi! or Terve!
This is the best time of winter in Finland , so it's really a joy taking pics outside.
